New Delhi [India], July 30:<\/strong> Preparing for a successful career in the healthcare industry requires learning that extends beyond the classroom. At SBS University Dehradun<\/strong><\/a>, clinical exposure<\/strong> makes up a major part of healthcare education, enabling students with opportunities to apply their academic learnings into real-world settings while developing the practical skills, confidence, and clinical competence needed to thrive in an actual career.<\/p>\n

As part of this experiential learning approach<\/strong>, the university frequently engages students in exposure-based activities<\/strong>, including participation in major sporting events and specialised clinical training programmes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One such noticeable initiative was the participation of MPT Sports postgraduate students<\/strong> in the 42nd Gold Cup Tournament<\/strong> (organised by the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand<\/strong>) at the Rajeev Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the tournament, students proactively participated in on-field medical and rehabilitation support<\/strong> under professional supervision. They successfully treated 11 athletes<\/strong>, facilitating their safe return to play.<\/p>\n

The team managed a range of sports-related conditions, including acute bleeding, hamstring pulls, calf and abdominal cramps, ankle sprains, and mechanical knee and shoulder pain<\/strong>. This exposure to real-time challenges<\/strong> enabled students to apply academic knowledge in kinesiology and rehabilitation<\/strong> while gaining valuable insights into real-time sports medicine triage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The students also provided expert physiotherapy coverage at the Uttarakhand Wushu Championship<\/strong> (organised by the Uttarakhand Wushu Association<\/strong>) at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the championship, the student team treated and managed more than 100 elite athletes<\/strong>, addressing acute sports injuries such as shoulder dislocations, ankle sprains, and severe contusions (bruises)<\/strong>. The event further strengthened participants\u2019 practical understanding of sports injury management and rehabilitation<\/strong> in a competitive sporting environment.<\/p>\n

Further extending the field-based initiatives, students of the Department of Physiotherapy<\/strong> <\/a>provided sports physiotherapy support to 25 national athletes<\/strong> during the Ice Skating Association of India\u2019s training camp<\/strong> held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur<\/strong>. This event provided another valuable opportunity for students to get hands-on learning<\/strong> and practise clinical skills.<\/p>\n

Adding to these field experiences, the University also frequently organises competency-driven workshops<\/strong> to empower students with advanced practical training<\/strong> and specialized clinical skills<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A workshop on \u201cTaping Techniques and On-Field Assessment\u201d<\/strong> led by Dr. Prahlad Priyadarshi<\/strong> (alumnus, Batch 2008\u20132010)<\/em>, currently appointed as Sports Physiotherapist for BCCI<\/strong> and Analyst at the Sports Authority of India (SAI)<\/strong>, was one among such initiatives by the university.<\/p>\n
